Students, be aware that this list will not include scholarships offered by a University for their prospective students. Check with the admissions office of the university of your choice to see what scholarships they
offer to their students.

Scholarship is available to students who have a minimum 2.5 GPA, Scored a minimum 18 on ACT or 860 on the math and verbal portions of SAT, Enrolled in high school located in Northeast Ohio, meet specific income guidelines based on the Parent’s Adjusted Gross Income (AGI), plan to enroll in college in 2011-2012
Plan to major in areas that would lead to a career working for a professional sport organization, such as; business, accounting, finance, human resources, information technology, communications, journalism, public relations, sports management, marketing/advertising, kinesiology or
exercise science, event management.
5 - Choose Ohio First – Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematic
(STEM) Scholarship $1,500 to $5,200
Planning to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in one of the above STEM fields, plan to enroll at the University of Akron as a full time student during the 2012-2013 academic year, must be U.S. citizen and resident of the State of Ohio, 3.0 GPA.

6 - The National Co-op Scholarship Program $6,000 Feb. 15
Applicants must have a 3.5 or higher GPA, a complete application to one of the member institutions. Merit co-op scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors who plan to participate in college cooperative education at one of the Partner Colleges and Universities: Drexel University,
Johnson & Wales U., Kettering U., Pace U., Rochester Institute of Technology, U. of Cincinnati, U. of Toledo, Wentworth Institute of Technology. Applications can completed online @ www.co-op.edu. Early applications are encouraged.

For high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college and intent to pursue a career in television or related fields are eligible to apply.

For prospective Educators. Applicants will be judged on the following: academic standing, including class size, class rank, and grade point average, and essay – 500 words- applicants do not have to attend the U. of A.

15 - Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland Creative Writing Contest
1st prize $500 Feb. 27
Entries will be judged by Federal Reserve staff on: Comprehension, 2nd prize $ 250

16 - GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship $10,000 renewable Feb. 17

17- Ohio Association of Career Colleges and Schools amounts vary -
over $1.1 million available Apr. 2
Scholarships available to any high school senior graduating from any Ohio High School in June of 2012. Applicants need a C average -2.0- do not have to demonstrate financial need, must be nominated by a current member of the Ohio Legislature. Each applicant is eligible for up to three scholarships, but must use a separate application for each, must start classes in summer or fall term following high school graduation. Excellent opportunities for Post-Secondary Training in; Accounting, Business, Computer, Criminal Justice, Dental Assisting, Electronics, Medical Assisting, Paralegal, Technology Veterinary Technology, Visual Communications and more.
18- The American Legion Legacy Scholarship amount varies April 15
Children or adopted children or child of a spouse by a prior marriage or dependent child as defined by the United States Armed Services for active duty personnel or the United States military and National Guard, and military reservists who were federalized and die on active duty on or after September 11, 2001. Must be a high school senior to apply.
19 – The Ryland Robert Reel Memorial Scholarship March 7
One scholarship will be given to a baseball player and one scholarship to a softball player. Applicants must have played JV or varsity baseball or softball for a minimum of two years, must have a minimum GPA of 2.8, show good citizenship, good sportsmanship and give 100% effort
regardless of talent, must have financial need and file the FAFSA, must plan to attend college on full time basis, must show high moral character, be alcohol and drug free, and not been convicted of any crimes. Open to students from Ellet, Kenmore and Firestone and some others Warren schools.
20 - B. Davis Scholarship $1,000 May 28
Available to Juniors and Seniors. There are no age restrictions for
this scholarship. Be sure to include your name and the school you
are attending this year and next. This is not an academic scholarship
but they would like to know where you are going to school now and
what your future academic plans are.

22 - The Jack W. And Shirley J. Berger Scholarship up to $10.000 March 1
applicant must be a high school senior, exhibit financial need, be a resident
of Cuyahoga, Geauga, Portage or Summit Counties, must have a minimum
GPA of 3.5 in high school, minimum 1850 SAT or 28 ACT, must take a college
course in comparative religion, and be a full time student seeking a secular education.
23 - The Urban League Scholarship over 35 scholarships covered by

application must be completed, with all attachments or it will not
be reviewed. Essay must be typed. Students must complete 20

Eligibility is primarily based upon financial need. The EFC on your
FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) must be under $7,999 to apply.
Applicants must already know their career goal, be highly motivated and
have good character, show academic promise and have a minimum GPA or 3.20.

Awards are based ont he student's scholastic achievement, school

28 - Ohio PTA Memeorial Scholarship - Special Ed/504 plan $500 March 1
Awards are based ont he student's scholastic achievement, school

29 - OSU Alumni Club of Summit County 2 for $1,000 each (?) Feb. 1
This is a merit-based scholarship for students living in Summit County.
Selection will be based on acceptance at Ohio State U., demonstrating
involvement in school and community activities, showing a sound interest
and positive attitude toward college work.
30 - Junior Women's Civic Club Scholarships 3 for $2,000 each March 30
For female students who have a minimum 2.5 GPA with financial need.
Student must have done volunteer work, be a senior who will attend
an Ohio College or University in the Fall of 2012. She must not be a
child or grandchild of a JWCC member.
31 - Beat the odds Ohio Scholarship 5 for $5,000 each March 16
The Children's Defense Fund Beat the Odds program honors,
celebrates, and rewards outstanding high school seniors who
have overcome tremendous adversity to achieve academic excellence,
demonstrate leadership in their community, and aspire to attend college.
Applicant must be a senior enrolled in a public, charter, or alternative
high school in Ohio and will graduate by July 2012, will attend college,
university, or vocational school in the Fall 2012, has acieved a minimum
3.0 GPA, has demonstrated community service, volunteerism and a
commitment to leadership development, has experienced and overcome
adversity such as, but not limited to, poverty, disability, homelessness or
abuse, and is a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident.
32 - Dombo-Fielder Communcation Scholarship/Akron Community Foundation $1,000
April 30
For female students graduates of Akron high schools interested in studying
communication at a four-year Ohio public college. Applicant must major in
broadcasting, or journalism, public relations and /or publishing; must be resident
of Ohio and qualify for financial assistance.
33 - St. Paul A.M.E. Church Scholarship Jan. 31
Write a 100 word essay including membership in organizations and office held,
extracurricular activities, community service, achiebements, hobbies.
34 - Through the Looking Glass 15 for $1,000 each March 5
For high school seniors who have one parents with disabilities or health
condition and planning to attend a two-year or a four-year college in
the Fall 2012.
35 - The "Jim Beal Architect Scholarship" $2,000 March 15
For graduating seniors in 2012 who will attend college in the Fall of 2012
and declare Architecture or Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
as a college major. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
36 - The James Kura Memorial Scholarship Contest 3 for $1,000 March 2
The Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (OACDL)
will award the scholarships to seniros who will be attending
a 4 year accredited college. Applicants will write a 2 page essay

37 - Buick Achevers Scholarship Program amounts vary Feb. 29
They encourage the following to apply: Seniors who plan to enroll
full time at a four-year college or university in 2012-2013 and plan
to major in a field of studen that focuses on engineering, technology,
design or business, with an interest in the atuomotive industry. Applicants

39 - Greater Akron Touchdown Club Foudation Scholarship $1,000 March 20
To qualify student must be a graduating senior from a high school
located in Summit, Portage or some of Medina Counsties, plan to
enroll in college or university in Ohio in the Fall of 2012, during
the senior year in high school earn at least one varsity letter for
participating in an Interscholastic sport.

years of high school mathematics, 2 years of laboratory RENEWABLE

Applicant must be in the top 1/3 of senior class at Ellet H. S.,

a two paragraph statement as why you deserve this scholarship. If
student received $5,000 or more from other scholarship, he/she is
not eligible for this one
43 - Summit Endodontic Specialists Scholarship 2 for $500 each March 30
For graduating seniors planning to enter the dental field,
medical field, or any science related field. Applicant must
have at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA for the junior and senior
year in high school. Selection will be based on merit, community
service, and academic performance.
44 - OSBA Black Caucus Program Stipends March 9
OSBA is accepting applications for the 2012 OSBA Black Caucus
Leo Lucas stipend, a program that provides graduating African

51 - The Caroline Wilson Dook Memorial Scholarship by Caritas Foundation April 7
Based on need
of student - up to $4,000
Applicant must plan to attend a four- year post secondary institution, must
exemplify the edeals of :personal integrity and responsibility, a record of
service to others, strength in the face of adversity. Particular consideration
may be given to student who has delt with a chronic medical condition,
to those who recongize the importance of physical activity and music.
Applicants mus have at least a 3.0 GPA and must show need for financial
assistance.
52- African American Heritage Festival Scholarship -By The Ohio State U. - (2) $1,00
(2) $500 March 16
Open to all African And African American public high school seniors within the
state of Ohio, and is applicable to any post-secondary institution of higher
education. Applicants are required to submit resume' listing all accomplishments
and complete essay responses (see application for topics).

applicant must be a senior, male or female living in Akron/Summit County, must
