Seniors: It's Time to Apply for Colleges

Due to scholarships and other financial deadlines, it is recommended that seniors apply to their chosen schools soon. To apply, students should:

  •     Complete an application either online or on paper.  Remember: neatness counts.  Applications should be neatly typed or written in blue or black ink.  They should be placed in folders or envelopes and not crumpled in the bottom of backpacks.
  •     Bring the completed application (or signature page if completed online) along with the College Prep form to your guidance counselor.  If other supportive materials are required, i.e. essays, recommendations from teachers, check or money order, etc., bring those too.
  •     Bring a stamped envelope.  Many applications will include an addressed envelope and some are postage paid.  Just bring it when you turn in your application.  A general rule is if your applications and supporting documents equal more than four pages, use two stamps.
  •     Your counselor will complete the necessary forms and supply an official transcript.
  •      Please allow three business days to process your application.  If a reference letter from the counselor is required, please allow one week.

Financial Aid Meeting—A representative from the University of Akron will be here on January 5, 2012 at 6:30 PM in the Auditorium to help anyone with filling out the FAFSA.  Please plan on attending!
